Good news.

I have got my router working and i have set up my very own PC server...

I have put it in my attic but its set up and ready to go....

I need to upgrade it, stats are:

512RAM
3400+ Processor
XP Home
80gig H/A

20 Meg connection (Shared with my main PC) (Downfall i download all the time, Fence the internet speed)
At the mean time, We are deciding what MMORPG or game, to host off this server...

Been talking to daydie all night and we decided to open a WoW server along with a Mir server, so 2 new daydie servers coming soon.

Mir will be hosted on daydie dedi and WoW server on my teams server computer.

I don't want to sound like I'm putting a downer on the whole situation.

But hosting from a home connection, unless its a dedicated line for only the server is not going to work.

Daydie if your on a 20mb line, I'm ashuming your with Virgin Media. If I'm correct then your on the XXL package. This is 20MB download = somewhere between 1.2MBS and 2.4MBS and upload of 786K = somewhere in the regions of 80Kbs upload. If your also using your net to access other things, as you said to download. Then hosting a server on this connection will not work at all.

You will have a server that is laggy 99% of the time and people won't like that.

What I would suggest is getting a second line in, one that can be deidcated to the server. I would'nt sugest using Virgin ether for this. The best option is to have a look at ADSL2 so best company to go with for that is B, but it will also be dependent on how close you are to your local exchange.

Just my suggestion really.

Cant afford another line matey, If i could i would.

And i dont download during day time... Im out from 6 in morning untill 5 at night, and download at 11:30 maybe, So it will be 100% for the server just about all day

Hmm. I wonder if i could talk to one of my college teachers and ask him nicely if i he could help me setup a proper dedicated server. One of my teachers wanted an investment anyway... If we set this up, i may be able to get free space. I'll keep you guys up to date!

I have upgraded my Host PC to 2.3Gig.... I am going to run lineage2 off this.... another server if possible also...


You can host the server matey... But after a while when affordable, we get a dedicated host so i can access also....
